Following on from the Government announcement on Thursday 26th November, our pub currently falls within Tier 2 of the Government tier system and we are pleased to announce that as we’re able to provide a substantial food offering. We are still very much open to welcome you for food and drink.
Situated in the quaint Cumbrian village of Burton in Kendal is the Kings Arms; a friendly traditional pub offering real food, real ales and cosy rooms.
Our pub has a relaxed atmosphere and welcomes locals, visitors to the area, overnight stayers, families and even four-legged friends! We’re proud to have a rich history as an old coaching inn that dates back to 1753, our exposed wooden beams, fireplaces, brickwork and cobbled courtyard give great character to our pub. If you join us for food you’re in for a treat – our food is locally sourced and freshly cooked to order. We provide a range of hearty pub classics all best washed down with a pint of real ale! Take a look at our food and drink pages to see what we offer.
We’re delighted to announce we recently won the top prize in Heinz’s Heartwarming Heroes competition. The competition was looking for the nation’s best community pub and was offering prize money to host a community event. We’ve now got exciting plans in store for a special event this summer to teach children and their parents valuable lifesaving skills. Ask us about our plans when you next visit.
We look forward to welcoming you soon.
Matthew and the team
Locally sourced food is a big passion of ours, we work very closely with suppliers, businesses and allotment owners in the village to ensure our dishes are of the best quality and as fresh as possible!
Our vegetables often come from allotments at the bottom of our car park. Our fish is delivered by the lovely Steve Ravensglass Fish who travel to Fleetwood Market very early every day where he chooses the best of the catch for us. His deliveries are always a surprise!
Our chefs have created a menu filled with hearty pub classics from Cumberland Sausage, Mash and Gravy to our Hot Filled Oven Bottom Baps. All dishes are simple in creation but big in flavour – real food! And as it’s all freshly cooked to order it can take a little time to prepare, but we promise the little wait is worth it! – As we say “We’re not a fast food outlet, we leave that to others.”
We’re often recognised and awarded for our dedication to good grub and were a finalist in the Thwaites Awards for Excellence, Best Food category.
